The 1969 ballad "Okie From Muskogee" written by Merle Haggard and Eddie Burris was recently
named the No. 1 song on Country Music Television's "20 Greatest City Songs."
The city has adopted the lyrics as part of their image campaign for local, national and international
recognition.
