The town of Rentiesville is about 25 miles from the city of Muskogee.  It is home to the Civil War battleground, Honey Springs, the childhood home of Dr. John Hope Franklin and is the site for the Down Homes Blues Festival and Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, the Down Homes Blues Club and birthplace of legendary blues artists, the late DC Minner.
